P&WC Unveils Six New Services Tailored for Helicopter Engine Operators under its Ongoing Service Business Transformation Model

New highly tailored services address changing customer needs and reflect P&WC's commitment to further drive availability, guaranteed pricing, performance and increased asset value to customers

Marketwire

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA--(Marketwired - Feb. 26, 2018) - Today at HAI HELI-EXPO, Pratt & Whitney Canada announced six new helicopter engine services as part of its ongoing transformation of the company's customer service organization and the way in which it designs and delivers programs to match the evolving needs of operators of its worldwide engine fleet. P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation (NYSE:UTX).

"Our customers' needs and business models are changing and we are committed to being there for them with tailored solutions," said Tim Swail, Vice President, Customer Programs, P&WC "We are focused on greater-than-ever availability and guaranteed services - driving performance optimization and mission readiness for our customers. It's a step-change in personalized customer services delivery backed by advanced data-analytics and ecommerce infrastructure."

Swail detailed the company's efforts to tailor its engine service offerings to its customer base and create a seamless experience for each operator.

"We are taking a cue from the technology industry and incorporating an agile approach to our customer service organization: creating transformation teams who are given the latitude to incubate, launch and adapt targeted solutions to address the real-world business challenges our 13,000 customers face," said Swail. "These new services and solutions are supported by the use of big data and technologies that amplify our ability to be innovative, scalable and flexible, which we believe is the key to our future success and to that of our customers."

As a demonstration of the company's ongoing transformation, P&WC unveiled six new initiatives targeted to helicopter operators including:

Certified Pre-Owned Engine Program for Helicopters:

  • Under its aircraft redeployment support effort, P&WC is expanding its current PT6A Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) engine program to the PT6C-67C, PW206C and PW207C helicopter engines. Through their dealer, customers of P&WC-powered used helicopters whose engines are certified under the program will be given a P&WC one-year/500-hour first-run warranty along with numerous additional benefits.

Small Fleet Pay-per-Hour (PpH) Solution: An engine maintenance program for fleets of less than five helicopters

  • Small Fleet PpH will make available the more customized engine maintenance cost-guarantee benefits of P&WC's Fleet Management Program (FMP®) - including environmental repair at overhaul, to smaller fleet operators with less than five helicopters starting with PW206, PW207 and PT6C engine families. The solution takes advantage of features of P&WC's Eagle Service Plan (ESP) and offers tailored coverage packages, a streamlined contract and transferability of benefits.

ESP Platinum with environmental repair at overhaul for operators of PW206/207 engines

  • Full commercial availability of ESP's premium-level program for PW206/207 engines, which have captured the majority of light twin applications since their introduction, ESP Platinum PW200 coverage encompasses routine periodic inspections (parts and labour) including fuel nozzles, environmental repair at overhaul, and P&WC Technical Publications.

Enhanced Line Replaceable Unit (LRU) Availability Program

  • Recognizing that aircraft dispatch availability remains the key priority for customers, P&WC is piloting a line replaceable unit (LRU) availability initiative with its operators. In addition to LRU provisioning at the customer's premises, P&WC will establish LRU pooling in key geographic locations and tailored to the various aircraft models and missions, with emphasis on guaranteed turnaround times.

Tailored Customer Services for Defence and Security Mission-Readiness

  • Backed by a newly formed organization dedicated to the growing Defence and Security sector, P&WC is actively developing tailored solutions and services for customers of its civil-certified engines that are flown in defence and security missions (including firefighting, search and rescue, law enforcement, military transport, etc.).

Mission-Ready Services for Heads of State and other VIP Transport Helicopter Fleets:

  • Customized to individual needs and flying environments and to ensure maximum helicopter availability, P&WC is creating optimized packages of spare parts and engineering services to be located on the customer's premises. The new services will include deployment of P&WC Mobile Repair Team (MRT) technicians for routine onsite maintenance and technical familiarization of customers' technicians.

"During HAI, we meet face-to-face with hundreds of representatives of helicopter operators from around the world," says Swail. "We are looking forward to discussing our new approach - and the initiatives that are driving it - with our customers whose input will inform the future direction of our efforts to best suit their needs for further customization."

P&WC will be at HAI HELI-EXPO, booth C4432. Interested operators are invited to drop by the booth to speak with a marketing or customer service representative.

Specialist Aviation Services and Pratt & Whitney Canada Sign Agreement for Fleet Management Program for 24 PW210A Engines

Marketwire

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA--(Marketwired - Feb. 26, 2018) - Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) has signed a 12-year Fleet Management™ Program (FMP®) agreement with Specialist Aviation Services (SAS) for 24 PW210A engines powering 12 Leonardo AW169 helicopters. P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).

"As an extension of our 'personalized,' 'performance,' and 'guaranteed' approach, we are creating value-packed services and support tailored for every customer," says Timothy Swail, Vice-President, Customer Programs, P&WC. "Through services such as FMP, we are moving customers toward more fully planned maintenance environments while supporting increased aircraft availability and reducing direct maintenance costs."

The FMP has been specifically tailored to SAS's needs. P&WC's FMP plan is a customized, engine management solution that helps reduce operating costs and simplifies fleet operations management. It also serves as a financial planning tool supporting efficient cash flow management, while allowing operators to focus on their core business - whether it is emergency medical services, law enforcement, oil and gas, utility or corporate. Under this program, a P&WC-appointed team of experts manages engine maintenance to deliver reduced maintenance costs, customer satisfaction and peace of mind and outstanding engine reliability.

Operating primarily in the United Kingdom, SAS provides support to emergency services and other major organizations that rely on aircraft to support their operations. SAS is one of the fleet leaders on the AW169 program.

"When it comes to emergency services, time is always of the essence," says Henk Schaeken, Managing Director, Specialist Aviation Services. "We have opted to invest in an FMP for our PW210A engines with the OEM because we believe it is the best way of ensuring our AW169 fleet remains ready to respond at a moment's notice."

Operators of the PW210 have enjoyed a flawless entry into service for the engine. It has flown some 120,000 hours and there have been no reported in flight shut downs or unscheduled engine removals.

P&WC will be at HAI HELI-EXPO, booth C4432. Interested operators are invited to drop by the booth to speak with a marketing or customer service representative.

Pratt & Whitney Canada Introduces a Certified Pre-Owned Engine Program Tailored for Three of its Most Popular Helicopter Engines

Pratt & Whitney Canada

February 26, 2018

Pratt & Whitney Canada Introduces a Certified Pre-Owned Engine Program Tailored for Three of its Most Popular Helicopter Engines

Designed to support aircraft redeployment, buyers of used helicopters with certified P&WC engines will receive a 500-hour/one-year warranty

Marketwire

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA--(Marketwired - Feb. 26, 2018) - Operators thinking of buying a pre-owned AW139 or AW109 helicopter will now have the option of a 500-hour/one-year engine warranty under P&WC's new Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) engine program for PT6C-67C, PW206C and PW207C engines. P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation (NYSE:UTX).

Initially being launched in collaboration with global helicopter dealer Rotortrade, aircraft dealers will certify the engines under the CPO program through P&WC. The company will also offer the following: six months of complimentary technical publications for the engine, a credit that can be applied to P&WC's Eagle Service™ Plan (ESP™) pay-per-hour engine maintenance program, discounts on engine-maintenance training provided through FlightSafety International, and other incentives.

"We are committed to supporting our products throughout their life cycle," says Tim Swail, Vice President, Customer Programs, P&WC. "The CPO program brings benefits to both dealers and operators alike. Dealers are able to differentiate their inventory by promoting helicopters that come with an OEM-backed engine warranty. Operators are able to purchase a pre-owned helicopter with greater confidence in their investment.

To qualify under the CPO program, the engine must have been maintained in a P&WC-owned or designated facility and contain only genuine P&WC parts. The engine must also pass a thorough inspection.

"P&WC understands the needs of the pre-owned market and the CPO program aligns closely with Rotortrade's mission to provide value-added services and quality assurance to our global pre-owned helicopter customers," said Philippe Lubrano, President of Rotortrade. "Since the engines are such an important part of the investment in a helicopter, the program provides buyers the level of confidence they have been requesting for a long time. We welcome the support that P&WC is delivering to this growing industry segment."

The PT6C and the PW200 engine families are among the most popular in P&WC's helicopter engine portfolio. P&WC also plans to expand the CPO offering to its additional turboshaft platforms. Last October, the company introduced a CPO program for its PT6A turboprop engine and will continue to expand the program to other engine families.

P&WC will be at HAI HELI-EXPO, booth C4432. Operators and dealers interested in the program are invited to drop by the booth to speak with a marketing or customer service representative.

The European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has granted European Technical Standard Order (ETSO) authorization for the Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) APS2600E auxiliary power unit that will fly aboard the Embraer E190-E2. P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation (NYSE:UTX).

"This is the culmination of a global effort involving Pratt & Whitney operations in North America and Europe, Embraer in Brazil, and EASA in Germany," says Marty Kessell, Vice President, APU Market, P&WC. "It is a significant achievement because it's the first APU developed by Pratt & Whitney Rzeszów S.A. (Poland), the newly appointed design organization for P&WC's APUs."

P&WC currently has more than 10,700 APUs in service in 19 different models. The entire P&WC APU fleet has flown more than 105 million hours. Today, there are nearly 3,000 P&WC APUs currently enrolled in maintenance programs.

"Our family of APUs covers a broad variety of aircraft platforms and the critical mass of APUs we have flying has been the impetus for us to create an exceptional customer service network," says Kessell. "We have one of the world's largest service networks and the most experienced service experts in the business ready to serve APU customers 24/7 virtually anywhere in the world."

P&WC will be at the Singapore Airshow, Pratt & Whitney Exhibit L39. Interested operators are invited to drop by the booth to speak with a marketing or customer service representative.

Pratt & Whitney Canada Signs Maintenance Agreements for 51 APUs Operated by Qantas Airlines

Almost all P&WC Auxiliary Power Units flown by Qantas now covered by maintenance agreements

Marketwire

SINGAPORE, SINGAPORE--(Marketwired - Feb. 5, 2018) - Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) has signed a new contract with Qantas Airways for the maintenance of an additional 51 Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) on a variety of aircraft flown by the Qantas Group. P&WC is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corporation (NYSE:UTX).

The contract covers:

  • 20 APS2100 APUs for QantasLink Boeing 717 aircraft.
  • 19 APS5000 APUs for Jetstar and Qantas Boeing 787 aircraft.
  • 12 PW980 APUs for Qantas Airbus A380 aircraft.

"This is a significant achievement for P&WC because with this contract signing, almost all P&WC APUs flown by Qantas are now under maintenance agreements," says Marty Kessell, Vice President, APU Market, P&WC. "P&WC has established itself over many years as a premier supplier of APUs to the commercial airline industry with innovative powerplants that lessen an aircraft's environmental impact while on the ground, conserve fuel and assist with the operations of the aircraft. As the designer and manufacturer of these engines, we are best positioned to sustain their operational integrity and dispatch availability through comprehensive maintenance programs."

P&WC offers several types of APU maintenance agreements to suit customers' varying needs and operational environments. The pay-per-hour (PpH) plan allows the customer to make monthly payments based on a set rate for every hour flown to cover ongoing maintenance costs. The event cost plan allows the customer to pay for hours flown at the time of the shop visit for the specific maintenance event, rather than on a monthly basis. P&WC also has a material cost guarantee plan which is offered to customers who do their own repairs in their own shops.

In many cases, P&WC also provides spare-part support options which complement these APU maintenance support programs. P&WC's service plans provide excellent value and flexibility to customers and allow for predictive costs.

P&WC currently has more than 10,700 APUs in service in 19 different models. The entire P&WC APU fleet has flown more than 105 million hours. Today, there are nearly 3,000 P&WC APUs currently enrolled in maintenance programs.
The Qantas Group which includes its full service premium carrier Qantas Airways and its low fares airline Jetstar carries more than 50 million passengers a year.

P&WC will be at the Singapore Airshow, Pratt & Whitney Exhibit L39. Interested operators are invited to drop by the booth to speak with a marketing or customer service representative.
